How to overcome barriers in giving and receiving?
Philanthropic engagement has a crucial role to play to cope with today’s challenges in an increasingly disruptive environment. New ways of giving practices must be explored to shape and support the ongoing transformation. Governments, for the most part, want to stimulate philanthropy: across Europe, many countries provide a range of tax benefits to both donors and recipient organizations. The political landscape for philanthropy has remained relatively stable in Europe over the past few years. However, a philanthropic single-market in Europe is not yet a reality.
In this context we choose to raise the question: How to facilitate cross-border philanthropy between Switzerland and Europe? Why is it important and how to evolve?
Swiss Philanthropy Foundation and specking+partners are pleased to invite you to this exclusive panel discussion on the theme of cross-border giving. Aimed at individual and institutional donors, beneficiary non-profit organizations, trusted advisors (bankers, wealth manager, lawyers), philanthropy experts and foundation professionals, the panel will discuss the challenges and solutions to cross-border giving.
When: Thursday 26th October 2023, from 17:00 to 18:30
Where: ETH Student Project House (Zentrum), Clausiusstrasse 16, 8006 Zürich
Introduction by Heiko Specking, Founder and Partner, specking+partners.

A discussion facilitated by Marc Salzmann, Partnership Manager, Swiss Philanthropy Foundation.

Since 2008, Swiss Philanthropy Foundation has been the Swiss representative of the Transnational Giving Europe Network, helping organisations fundraise across Europe and Swiss-based donors give to charity beyond borders.
Aimed at Swiss non-profit institutions who fundraise in Europe, the workshop has the dual objective of presenting the philanthropic solutions that can efficiently channel donations through, for instance, legacy funds or the Transnational Giving Europe Network (TGE) and providing an overview of the tax issues involved in these European cross-border donations.
This workshop is an interactive session where we will be discussing in break-out groups and exploring relevant questions and cases.
When: Thursday 26th October 2023, from 15:00 to 16:30
Where: ETH Student Project House (Zentrum), Clausiusstrasse 16, 8006 Zürich
