Swiss Philanthropy Foundation participated in the 2019 Forum des Fondations, organised by SwissFoundations. This 9th edition was devoted to governance issues, a theme at the heart of current events in the foundation sector.
On the occasion of the panel “Finance and organization: to shelter or not to shelter, that is the question! ” Sabrina Grassi and Etienne Eichenberger presented the sheltering foundation model, which offers an alternative solution to the creation of your own foundation and is now attracting more and more donors.
Indeed, in the face of the various regulatory and transparency issues, the sheltering foundation relieves the donor by ensuring administrative burdens and follow-up with beneficiary organisations while guaranteeing compliance with public utility criteria.
The Sheltered Fund thus embodies a new way of engaging in philanthropy, where the main idea is that use takes precedence over property.
Animated by the different interventions, the conference provided a quality perspective on good governance practices and the challenges that surround it today. Thus, several themes were highlighted, such as philanthropic vitality in French-speaking Switzerland, strategic development as a lever for change, and the various resources available to donor foundations.
