We are pleased to share the third COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund impact report, covering the period of June 1 – June 30. During this period, the Fund disbursed $34.6 million to the World Health Organization (WHO) and its partners, bringing total disbursements to date to $173.6 million.
From the Fund’s March 13, 2020 launch through June 30, 2020, leading companies and organizations and more than 529,000 individuals together contributed more than US$224 million in fully flexible funding to support the WHO-led global response effort, including US$24.6 million through the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation.
This latest report details the impact of pooled and flexible funding as well as WHO’s progress to date toward its three primary strategy pillars, among them figure the support of vulnerable countries and communities that need help most.
To provide just one example : during June 2020, US$10 million was disbursed to UNHCR to help ensure forcibly displaced people can access the services they need to keep safe from COVID-19. Thanks to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, UNHCR and its partners have stepped up their efforts, working together to protect the health and wellbeing of the 217’515 refugees and asylum-seekers living in the Dadaab refugee camps (as of end of May 2020).
