Last week was marked by the annual meeting in virtual format of the 21 member countries of the TGE network; Swiss Philanthropy Foundation participated as a representative for Switzerland.
In addition to bringing together all its members to discuss the latest developments in the sector, this meeting is above all an opportunity to discuss strategic issues and opportunities for the development of the network in favor of European philanthropy.
In particular the digitization of cross-border donations with the creation of the first online donation platform. A pilot and easy-to-use solution that allows individuals and businesses to donate online to causes and organizations of their choice in Europe, in a secure legal and tax environment.
These interactive sessions make it possible to take stock of the activities of the TGE. After a record year 2019, the first half of 2020 confirmed the sharp increase in cross-border donations, totaling 11.6 million euros. In comparison, in 2019 the figure was 4.5 million euros, a considerable increase of 150%!
These positive results encourage the partners to continue their efforts to further develop the network and gain efficiency. The meeting thus made it possible to identify the objectives to be achieved in the coming months, including the development of communication tools, the exchange of good practices, visibility with European bodies, donors and beneficiaries.
In addition, the current Covid-19 crisis has helped strengthen collaboration between TGE partners as well as the links of the generosity ecosystem, while revealing the importance of a strong European coalition for the sector.
Swiss Philanthropy Foundation looks forward to these recent developments and the promising upcoming opportunities for the European philanthropy sector.
