Last month on June 20, 2024, the International Geneva Welcome Center (CAGI) hosted a two-part event on cross-border philanthropy. As international organizations increasingly rely on foreign funding, diversifying sources is crucial.
The event began with a workshop given by Swiss Philanthropy Foundation on facilitating cross-border philanthropy from Europe to Switzerland with the Transnational Giving Europe Network.
After a light lunch, a roundtable discussion, moderated by Julien Beauvallet, Head of Civil Society Service at CAGI, addressed, the challenges and opportunities for cross-border philanthropy in International Geneva. Speakers included tax expert Jean-Frédéric Maraia from Schellenberg Wittmer, Mara De Monte from the Geneva Centre for Philanthropy (UNIGE), Kristina Preiksaityte from Nonviolent Peaceforce, and Aïssata Traoré from Swiss Philanthropy Foundation.
The event highlighted the need for innovative solutions and international cooperation to foster a more supportive environment for global philanthropy.
