Success of the Nurture Africa project

After three years of support, our Health Thematic Fund ended its commitment in September to the project “Improving sexual and reproductive health and maternal and child health”, led by the organization Nurture Africa.

The Thematic Funds solution at Swiss Philanthropy Foundation allows you to join the efforts of other philanthropists in order to maximize the impact for beneficiaries. Each project is selected and monitored by our partners WISE Philanthropy Advisors for regular monitoring of results. A good solution to deploy your philanthropy with confidence by supporting a project focused on the concrete needs of local communities while sharing costs.

Thanks to this solution, in three years, the Nurture Africa project in Wakiso District, Uganda, has exceeded its initial objectives. Thanks to their health facility, the training of staff at two health centers and awareness campaigns in the most isolated communities, the results speak for themselves:

  • +24,000 women sensitized to reproductive health and screened for HIV
  • +14,000 women who received complete antenatal care
  • +9,000 children who received complete immunization

At our conference “Inspiring Solutions for a World in Crisis” on April 15, Alistair Brown, member of the steering committee ‘APTA Fund’, and Tamar Gabelnick, member of the board of the ‘Salève’ foundation, shared their experience as co-funders of another project, that of CAMFED, supported by our Thematic Fund Education and Employment. Watch the replay of the panel « Faire à plusieurs » (“Doing Together”).
